Continuous CH2O Monitoring: Preventing Occupational Disease with the WANDI FIX800

Formaldehyde (CH2O) causes occupational disease through prolonged low-level exposure in furniture factories, hospitals, and new buildings (IARC Group 1). The WANDI FIX800 fixed detector monitors CH2O among five gases 24/7, alarming immediately when TWA limits are exceeded.

Why Fixed CH2O Gas Detectors Are Required

Formaldehyde (CH2O) is continuously emitted by new building finishes, furniture, wood-processing facilities, hospital disinfection rooms, and funeral homes. Korea's Indoor Air Quality Management Act requires multi-use facilities above a certain size to maintain CH2O below 0.1 ppm. Wood-processing and painting workplaces must comply with the MoEL workplace TWA of 0.5 ppm. Continuous compliance requires fixed CH2O gas detectors that monitor automatically around the clock.

Real Accident — Occupational Disease Cluster at Furniture Factory (2019, Gyeonggi)

At an MDF furniture factory in Gyeonggi-do, five workers performing painting and cutting operations were collectively recognized as occupational disease cases with chronic bronchitis and nasal abnormalities. The factory's measured CH2O TWA was 0.8 ppm—above the legal limit—and the absence of continuous monitoring had allowed prolonged exposure to go undetected. WANDI FIX800 — Fixed 5-Gas CH2O Detector

The WANDI FIX800 equipped with a CH2O sensor mounts permanently in furniture factories, hospital disinfection rooms, and multi-use facilities for 24/7 automated formaldehyde monitoring. It can measure up to five gases simultaneously—integrating CH2O with VOC, O2, and others in a single unit. The FIX-DS display panel shows real-time CH2O readings externally for pre-entry safety verification, while cloud connectivity stores cumulative TWA data for regulatory compliance reporting.

Prevention Scenario with FIX800

In the 2019 Gyeonggi factory case, a FIX800 would have alerted management the moment CH2O exceeded 0.5 ppm, prompting immediate ventilation and work stoppage. Cloud-stored TWA data would have documented compliance (or the lack thereof) from day one, preventing the multi-year undetected overexposure that led to the occupational disease cluster.
