Dry-ice cold storage and high CO₂ hazards — VPE Korea

Hi from VPE Korea. Dry ice (solid CO₂) is familiar from ice-cream shops—it is carbon dioxide brought to a high-pressure, low-temperature solid state.

Large freezers in this case also rely heavily on dry ice.

GasTiger 2000 monitors CO₂ because evaporating dry ice can raise CO₂ sharply inside cold rooms, creating an asphyxiation risk. Measurement-driven controls are essential.

We entered the chamber for a demonstration. Within 10 seconds we physically felt oxygen deprivation—high CO₂ made breathing difficult and caused dizziness.

We exited immediately for safety (filming only with site approval). ★ A key question is whether the detector remains stable near −20 °C. ★

Within minutes CO₂ approached 10% vol (~100,000 ppm)—a level associated with vomiting, syncope, and death if exposure continues.
