This site is a public environmental corporation facility located near the coast, handling waste generated from the sea and wastewater used at the port. This is a case where a gas detector was applied at this public wastewater and waste treatment facility.

In particular, unlike other wastewater treatment facilities, the structure of this process did not allow the detector to be installed directly within the main treatment process. Therefore, an external pump and filter were used to draw in air from outside and measure the gas via a suction-sampling method, and the enclosure was configured and installed accordingly.

This is a photo of the enclosure configured for suction-type gas detection.

To explain briefly, this is a system in which the installed FIX800 gas detector receives air delivered through an external pump. Since dust or moisture can also be drawn in along with the air, a filter is required at the intake. An external pump that delivers air to the gas detector must also be installed, along with an SMPS to supply power to the pump and the detector.

Once this configuration is complete, the upgrade to a suction-type gas detector is finished.

By inserting a hose into the intake at the bottom of the enclosure and placing it in the desired space, the air in that space is drawn in real time and delivered to the FIX800 gas detector. If gas is present in the intake air, the FIX800 installed-type gas detector displays the detected gas concentration in real time as a numeric value.

Suction-type gas detectors are typically applied at sites where the detector itself cannot be mounted directly due to high moisture, or in environments such as oil tanks or water tanks where a gas detector cannot be fixed by screw-type mounting.

At this site as well, a gas concentration display board was installed so that the internal gas concentration could be checked from outside before entry.

The display board installed outside the entrance shows workers, in advance, the internal gas concentration that they would otherwise have no way of knowing. If a worker enters without knowing whether gas is present inside, they could suffer fatal asphyxiation immediately upon entry. For this reason, we believe a gas concentration display board is essential in any space that is not continuously staffed by workers.
