Hello from RS Korea. Today's product is the FIX5000 multi-purpose environmental measuring instrument — capable of simultaneously measuring up to 6 user-selected gas sensors plus temperature, humidity, PM, wind speed, wind direction, and illuminance.

The large external touchscreen display provides access to readings, alarms, and 6 relay controls. In addition to onboard data storage and USB export, RS-485 communication enables integration with external systems and PLC monitoring.

Installation Purpose — High-Concentration Biogas Analysis

This unit was configured without ambient environmental sensors. Its purpose: analyzing high-concentration biogas generated in the livestock waste treatment process.

Installation — Freestanding Pole, Sampling Line, and Exhaust Connection

Service ports were pre-installed in the gas piping by the facility team. Ball valve fittings were connected — one side for sample intake, one for exhaust. Anchor bolts secured the freestanding pole; the detector was mounted and connected to the gas line via sampling tube. Protective conduit was installed over the sampling hose to guard against wind and physical interference.

Q1. Why are H₂S, CO₂, and CH₄ monitored simultaneously at a livestock waste facility?

Anaerobic decomposition of livestock waste generates all three gases simultaneously: H₂S (toxic), CO₂ (causes asphyxiation), and CH₄ (flammable and explosive). Monitoring all three in combination supports both worker safety compliance and process efficiency management.

Q2. Why is FIX5000 more suitable than FIX800 for this application?

FIX5000 supports up to 6 sensors and can be configured with high-range sensors — such as CO₂ 0–100% vol and CH₄ 0–100% vol — necessary for biogas process analysis. FIX800 supports up to 4 sensors at ranges optimized for safety monitoring at ambient concentrations. For high-concentration process measurement, FIX5000 is the appropriate choice.

Q3. Why are service ports and ball valve fittings prepared in advance?

FIX5000 uses a pump to draw sample gas from a specific location. Without service ports in the piping, there is no clean connection point — making sampling imprecise or unstable. Pre-installed service ports with ball valves prevent leakage when not sampling and enable reliable connection when measuring.

Q4. Why is a 0–100% vol CO₂ measurement range needed?

Biogas from livestock waste decomposition can contain CO₂ at concentrations of tens of percent by volume. Standard safety-purpose CO₂ sensors (0–5% or 0–1.5% vol) would saturate immediately and yield no useful data. The full-range 0–100% vol sensor is required to generate meaningful process analysis data.
