FIX800 O₂ Detectors (×8) with LED Display Boards — Public Sports Facility Disaster Prevention Center (Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do)
Hello from RS Korea. Today's installation locations are the sports complex and gymnasium at a public sports facility in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do.
Installation Background — CO₂ Fire Suppression and Asphyxiation Risk
The facility's integrated disaster prevention center houses a fire suppression agent room, with cabinet-type automatic extinguishers protecting the server room, UPS, and related equipment. These systems use CO₂ as the suppression agent.
In any space where CO₂ suppression gases are stored or used, even a leak alone can cause fatal asphyxiation. Oxygen concentration monitoring was installed to prevent incidents in the suppression agent room, electrical room, server room, and all other areas of concern.
Equipment List
- Gymnasium: FIX800 O₂ ×3 + LED display board + beacon alarm + additional beacon at rear entrance
- Sports complex: FIX800 O₂ ×5 + LED display board + beacon alarm
Two installation locations were addressed on separate days.
Gymnasium — Disaster Prevention Room, Electrical Room, Suppression Agent Room
FIX800 units were installed in the gymnasium's disaster prevention room, electrical room, and suppression agent room.
The LED display board and beacon were installed at the main entrance. An additional beacon was connected at the rear entrance to ensure alarm visibility for anyone approaching from either direction.
8-core shielded cable and lighting line duct were used for cable routing; GW waterproof corrugated conduit was used for transitions between the duct and walls. The large floor area of the gymnasium extended the wiring distances and installation time compared to a typical room installation.
Sports Complex — Disaster Prevention Room, Equipment Room, Server Room, Electrical Room, Agent Room
The same configuration — FIX800 O₂ detectors and LED display boards — was installed in all at-risk spaces within the sports complex's disaster prevention center.
Power was supplied from existing 220V outlets at the entrance — no separate electrical work required. Operator training was completed successfully.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Why is O₂ monitoring required at a public sports facility disaster prevention center?
When CO₂ fire suppression systems or cabinet-type automatic extinguishers activate, oxygen in the space is rapidly diluted — creating fatal asphyxiation risk. In spaces where fire suppression agents are stored or deployed, even a partial leak can be lethal. Continuous oxygen monitoring is increasingly mandated for these environments.
Q2. Why is an additional beacon installed at the rear entrance?
If alarms are only installed at the main entrance, workers approaching from the rear may be completely unaware of a hazardous condition developing inside. Connecting a beacon at the rear entrance eliminates this blind spot — ensuring that anyone approaching from any direction is immediately alerted.
Q3. Why is shielded cable used?
Sports facilities concentrate large numbers of lighting, broadcast, HVAC, and electrical systems in close proximity — creating significant electromagnetic interference. Shielded cable rejects this interference, ensuring stable RS-485 signal transmission. The benefit increases with cable run length, making it particularly important in large-footprint facilities.
Q4. What is the advantage of using existing 220V outlets for power supply?
No new electrical work, panel installation, or permit process is required. This is especially advantageous in public facilities where electrical modifications involve procurement and approval procedures. Installation is completed without any modification to the existing electrical infrastructure.
Q5. What distinguishes RS Korea's installation quality management approach?
As an authorized domestic subsidiary with in-house A/S repair, calibration, gas equipment manufacturing, and delivery capabilities, RS Korea provides a full-service approach — from precise pre-installation site surveys to post-installation operator training. The entire service chain — calibration, repair, manufacturing, delivery, and installation — is handled under one roof.
