Project Details
This installation was carried out at another branch of the same telecommunications company, following the same scope and method as our previous installation at a different branch site. The gas measurement requirements and installation approach are essentially identical.
The purpose of this installation is to measure five gases — O2 (oxygen), CO (carbon monoxide), CO2 (carbon dioxide), H2S (hydrogen sulfide), and EX (combustible gas) — in accordance with Article 618 of the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Rules, which govern confined-space asphyxiation prevention.
This particular site, an underground wastewater treatment room at the company's Dongjak-gu headquarters building in Seoul, was treated as a high-priority location by the client's head office. Worker safety during the installation itself, in addition to long-term suffocation-accident prevention, was emphasized as a top priority throughout the project.

The products installed were the FIX800 5GAS installable gas meter and the FIX800 composite/single gas meter. This product line allows the sensor configuration to be selected according to user requirements — when a CO/H2S dual sensor is installed, the unit can simultaneously measure up to five gases in a single device, meeting the legally required O2, CO, H2S, EX, and CO2 measurement standard for confined spaces.

Alongside the meter, the FIX-DS dedicated monitoring display was installed. This high-visibility LED display is manufactured to order to match the configuration of the connected FIX800 unit, and can be customized in size and layout according to the client's site requirements. With this two-part configuration — measuring instrument and display board — evacuation and emergency response can be triggered immediately if a suffocation risk is detected before or during confined-space work.

Pre-Installation Preparation
Preparation began with the gas meter, display board, communication cable, and waterproof corrugated power conduit to be installed that day. A safety standing sign and ventilation blower were also prepared for the confined-space work, along with required documentation: confined-space worker safety training records, a workplace risk assessment, site handover records, and a work permit in the client's own format.

Before entering the confined space, oxygen was supplied via blower for 15 minutes. The site was then checked with a portable pump-type multi-gas meter (EDW500) to confirm safe working conditions before proceeding. No issues were found. After this initial check, the portable meter was left on site for continuous monitoring throughout the work.

Installation Work
The team split into two groups to install the display board and the gas meter simultaneously. The cable routing between the display board and the meter ran mostly along existing cable trays, which simplified the work considerably.

Gas concentration in the confined space was measured hourly throughout the work. Because the USIM-equipped IoT multi-gas meter (EDW500) was left on site, real-time data could be monitored remotely from outside the workspace, including from the client's own mobile device — a feature the client showed strong interest in.

Completion
Power was supplied to the display board via an outlet located behind the mounting pillar. Both the gas meter and display board were confirmed to be operating normally, completing two wastewater treatment room installations at this building — from safety preparation through installation and commissioning.
