FIX800 Hydrogen Detector Installation — Pharmaceutical Research Lab (Cheongju)

After a weekend of fine dust and rain, winter finally arrived in earnest. Hello, this is RS Korea's technical team — it's been a while since our last blog update. Today we're covering the installation of a FIX800 fixed-type hydrogen (H2, 0–1,000 ppm) gas detector and display board, installed to measure hydrogen concentration in the research lab of a pharmaceutical company in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. The estimate for this project was based on an on-site meeting and inspection carried out the previous October. Let's get started.

By the time we arrived, the scenery outside had turned entirely white with fresh snow — a fitting scene for the season.

After installing the detector at the location agreed with the customer, drilling work was carried out to route the cable through with a power tool. As a general rule, the better-built the building, the harder the drilling.

To minimize any visual mismatch with the existing PVC piping, we used waterproof flexible conduit of the same diameter and color. It was slightly noticeable on site, but comes across cleanly in photos.

A display board with a warning light was installed in the office space outside the lab, wired to the FIX800 detector via combined power and communication lines. The 220V power supply to the display board was neatly concealed inside a slim white duct — a detail easy to miss unless you know to look for it. At the time, the process inside the lab was running and showing a reading in the tens-of-ppm range; while this was not at a dangerous level, the exact figure has been blurred here to protect the customer's process information.

After completing the installation and site cleanup, the person in charge was invited over for a demonstration of the equipment and operator training. Calibration gas was injected into the detector to confirm both the alarm function and its integration with the display board — a reassurance customers can expect when the detector supplier also handles the installation.

After the calibration gas test, the reading was confirmed to sync correctly with the external display board as well, making it easy to monitor concentration changes at a glance during daily work. The team started at 10 a.m. and, skipping lunch, wrapped up the installation by 3 p.m. In summary: in Cheongju, a FIX800 H2 detector was installed.
