Installed Gases
Project Details
Hello, this is RS Korea.
Today we visited a company in Pyeongtaek that produces steam by burning pellet wood.
Purpose of Installation
This plant produces steam by burning pellet wood, and the client wanted a fixed-type gas detector to guard against the CO (carbon monoxide) generated during combustion. After an inquiry about detecting CO leaks inside the factory, we carried out an initial site survey visit followed by a second visit for installation.
Product Installed

This is the FIX800, a fixed-type gas detector from WANDI. As an additional option, a display board can be installed so that gas is measured inside the space while the concentration is also visible from outside — letting anyone check the reading before entering.

Installation Environment and Points

This plant uses pellet wood as fuel to generate steam. Even just being near the area, the ambient heat was reminiscent of a heated sauna floor.

Two FIX800 fixed-type detectors were installed at the plant, along with an interior and an exterior display board. One detector was placed at the worker entrance, and the other at the location most likely to experience a CO leak. One display board was installed inside so workers could check readings immediately, and a second was installed at the outside entrance so anyone could check the internal gas concentration before entering the plant.
Gas and Range

CO: 0–1,000 ppm (in line with Korea's Occupational Safety and Health Act confined-space standards)
Safety Training

This was genuinely useful time. Health and safety are always front of mind for us beyond the construction work itself, and we appreciated that the client even took the time to point out the designated smoking areas as part of the briefing.
Installation

Display board installation complete.

The detector at the entrance was installed first.

To connect the interior detector to the display board, power supply and communication lines were routed through the cable tray.

Once installation was complete, we brought in a gas cylinder matching the site's actual gas to demonstrate the alarm and response test. Everything operated correctly, and after demonstrating it once more for the person in charge, the on-site work was complete.
Summary
A CO gas detector was installed to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning in this combustion environment. Two display boards were installed so the internal concentration can be checked from outside, with a large LED readout visible inside as well. We're always happy to answer questions about detectors or installation.

Beyond simple product sales, RS Korea is a gas-specialized company offering in-house calibration, domestic after-sales repair, fabrication and shipping, and installation work. Drawing on our experience across demonstrations, site surveys, delivery, repair, and installation in a wide range of environments, we provide 1:1 customized solutions tailored to each gas-measurement environment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. Why is CO monitoring especially important at a pellet-fired boiler plant?
Burning pellet wood for steam generation produces carbon monoxide, which is colorless and odorless, so a fixed CO detector is essential to catch a leak before it becomes a health hazard.
Q2. Why were two detectors and two display boards installed instead of one?
One detector was placed at the worker entrance and one at the location most likely to leak CO, while one display board was installed inside for immediate readings and a second outside so anyone could check the concentration before entering the plant.
Q3. What is the detector's measurement range?
The units here measure CO from 0–1,000 ppm, in line with the confined-space standards under Korea's Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Q4. How is the installation verified before completion?
After installation, a gas cylinder matching the actual gas on site is used to test the alarm and response, and the result is demonstrated to the person in charge before the work is signed off.
Q5. Can a display board be added to the FIX800 later?
Yes. A display board is an optional add-on that lets someone check the internal gas concentration from outside a space before entering it.
