Project Details
Hello, this is RS Korea's Technical Sales Department. Starting in March 2023, I went to the Seoul Light Rail Dongbuk Line construction for the third installation. The project includes a total of 16 stations and 16 vents, and additional products are being installed as excavation progresses. If there were 100 stations and 100 vents, I would have been able to work comfortably for several years, but I couldn't be more disappointed. If my affairs do not go as I wish, how can the affairs of the country go as I wish? You just have to be satisfied with doing your best at the given task. Then, let's take a look at the scene prepared today.

Today's installation site is scheduled to be installed at ventilation shaft No. 113, or vertical shaft, next to stop No. 113, which runs between Sanggye Station and Hagye Station. Safety training and registration procedures have been simplified by visiting with the same number of people as the last installation schedule. This means it saves time. I wonder if I will have this kind of luck again, but it happens to be right near the field office, so the travel route is also very short. It's a morning where only good things will happen.

As always, we prepared the products to be installed and took a group photo. From the left, there is the FIX DS status page, the communication/power lines and waterproof corrugated pipes preliminarily installed below it, the magnetic gas meter FIX800 4GAS (O2 CO H2S EX) with protection on the right floor, and the work tools.

We first tour the site to lay wires and install products. I don't know if the vertical tunnel work hasn't progressed yet or if the site was partially shallow due to elevation differences. However, it is important that I plan to climb stairs a little less.

Hold the reference point and lower the pre-laid line. For future relocation, approximately 150m of work was done, including the spare line, and it was rolled up well for easy storage. Even thinking about it again, we think the magnetic case is the best item. We have worked with many custom-made enclosures, but there is no option that is this convenient and satisfactory. However, the downside is that it has no use other than construction sites where there are steel structures.

Connect the lowered wires to connect the status board and the measuring instrument. The LED blinking frequency and the cell phone camera do not match, so the numbers were not taken, but the normal atmospheric level (O2 20.9%, CO 0ppm, H2S 0ppm, EX 0%LEL) is displayed normally. Let's wrap things up and end today's blog briefly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. What kind of installation case is this?
This is the third round of gas detector installation at the Seoul Light Rail Dongbuk Line tunnel construction project, adding a FIX800 4-gas detector and status board as excavation progresses.
Q2. Which gases does the FIX800 monitor here?
O2 (oxygen), CO (carbon monoxide), H2S (hydrogen sulfide), and EX (explosive gas/LEL) — the four major gases required for confined-space safety.
Q3. Where exactly was the equipment installed?
At ventilation shaft No. 113 (a vertical shaft) next to stop No. 113, between Sanggye Station and Hagye Station in Nowon-gu, Seoul.
Q4. How was the wiring handled for this installation?
Approximately 150 meters of cable, including a spare line, was laid in advance, and a magnetic bracket and protective housing were used to speed up the connection work.
Q5. How long did the installation take?
The installation was completed by 2 people in about 3 hours, thanks to the pre-laid wiring and magnetic mounting bracket.
