Project Details
Hello, it's been a while since I greeted you. This is Pilseung Jeong, assistant manager of RS Korea’s technical sales department. Today's long story goes back to last May. A Pohang-based manufacturer contacted me several times to measure and analyze gases that may be generated during the material combustion test process, and by exchanging quotes and data via email, I developed a close relationship with the researcher in charge whom I had never met. With so many requests and consultations, I had to give a somewhat skeptical answer. Here's why: Basically, the installation type gas meters sold by WANDI are suitable for industrial safety and general atmospheric use. Not suitable for measuring burned gases. When measuring high-temperature gases, a pre-treatment process can be added, but it is difficult to ensure complete measurement and sensor life in an environment where the material of the fuel and the level of dust are not clear. Most of the gases that require measurement, such as NO2 SO2 CL2 F2 CO CO2, may have excessive or subtracted values due to cross-interference with each other, making accurate measurement difficult. I mentioned and emphasized this concern every time I attached data, but they continued to ask for inquiries and re-quotes, so I couldn't resist. “Let’s meet and talk.”

Moving from Gunpo to Gyeongsang Province is not that easy. I go on business trips with an appropriate mix of large and small meetings. Of course, my junior did the driving. As a salesperson, it was a bit of a strange meeting, but it was an opportunity to discuss the limitations of the materials and contents brought out by traveling all the way to Pohang and the difficulties in the environment requested by users. This is because we prioritize measuring well rather than selling well. We shared and discussed supporting documents related to the limitations mentioned in the preface. Some were limitations of WANDI's products and some were limitations of the sensor technology development process. In other words, we discussed problems that are not just something we cannot do, but that no one else can do. As a result of the long meeting, the meeting ended with a recommendation not to purchase or install. But what is this? The order was placed soon after the meeting. When I called in shock, I was told that they had inquired with several companies based on my story, but most of them informed me that it was not possible, and of all of them, they chose us because they provided the most sincere and enthusiastic guidance. After receiving confirmation that the information will be taken into consideration and measurement will be carried out, we will proceed with manufacturing the product. The total order quantity includes 4 sets of portable equipment, 3 sets of installation equipment, and construction. Direct photography is not possible due to security concerns, so we will add additional explanations to the photos sent by the person in charge. Products scheduled for installation and delivery are as follows: GASTIGER 2000 CO2 100% 1EAGASTIGER 6000 O2 25% SO2 10000ppm 1EAGASTIGER 6000 CO2 100% O2 100% 1EAGASTIGER 6000 SO2 10000ppm 1EAFIX800 F2 100ppm CL2 200ppm CO2 50% 1EAFIX800 CO 10% 1EAFIX800 SO2 10000ppm 1EAAnd this is pre-treatment equipment for moisture and temperature control. Suddenly, a fairly large single order was placed...

It is necessary to separate the IN and OUT LETs on the discharge pipe about 2m high and drill and weld them (we cannot do welding, so we have arranged for an additional company). For the convenience of future maintenance, we agreed to use PU (polyurethane) for the sampling line and fix it using a wire duct. Power lines will be protected using existing steel ducts.

Weld a socket of SUS 304, a pipe material, and install a ball valve in preparation for future non-use and inspection. Each part is discussed and organized with each other. Putting three FIX800 units into each preprocessing equipment not only takes up space but also incurs cost losses, so we decided to install them by condensing them into two units as shown in the picture.

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to take pictures, I took pictures in advance. After the discussion on preparing the products to be delivered was completed, the day of the decisive battle arrived on a chilly October day. Due to the size of the company, safety training and paperwork took about an hour. As mentioned above, it is unfortunate that photography is not allowed due to security reasons. It would be nice to have photos of the process.

It was about 3 hours of construction. Looking at it again, I'm satisfied with how cleanly it turned out and it doesn't seem like my skills have rusted yet.

Since the research equipment is not in operation, the test is conducted by injecting standard gas. The quick response resulted in satisfactory results for both users and us. The reason why the editorial in today's post was long was because there were not enough photos, but I also wanted to convey the process from installation to delivery. At RS Korea, we continue to collect numerous delivery cases, failure cases, and failure cases, and simultaneously provide guidance on limitations and solutions depending on the measurement environment. We are doing our best to ensure accurate measurements and smooth maintenance through meetings, on-site visits, and sharing and discussing prepared data. “Because that’s technical sales.”
