Project Overview: Confined-Space Gas Detection at a Jeonju Hospital Wastewater Facility
Following an inquiry regarding gas detection for confined spaces, a site visit was conducted at a hospital in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. The client had seen our LED display board product beforehand and requested an installation in which internal gas concentration readings would be immediately visible to workers the moment the access hatch is opened — before any entry is made. The primary objectives were continuous gas monitoring inside the confined-space wastewater treatment room and real-time safety confirmation for personnel.

Installation Key Points
The wastewater storage tank room contained wastewater holding tanks. The client requested that both the gas detector and the LED display board be installed on the left-side wall so that readings would be visible while descending the stairs. The space had no interior lighting and was too narrow for two people to enter simultaneously; however, odour levels were noted to be manageable during the site visit.
A separate outdoor wastewater treatment facility was also located on the hospital grounds. Here, the client requested that the detector and display board be mounted on the left wall so that current gas readings would be visible as workers descend the stairs into the treatment area.
Installation Process
As there was no power outlet inside the tank room, and the tank room wall connects to the B1F right-side corridor area, the power supply line was routed through the wall cavity to reach the B1F corridor outlet. For the LED display board, the air-conditioner multi-port outlet located in the corridor was utilised. To minimise exposed cabling, the ceiling tiles were opened to conceal the cable run.
Upon successful connection, power was confirmed on both the LED display board and the fixed gas detector, and the warning beacon alarm was verified to be functioning correctly. The wastewater tank room installation was thereby completed.
As the LED display board is typically installed inside a confined space with the detector — allowing external personnel to monitor internal gas concentrations before entry — and because the wastewater treatment facility here is located outside the hospital building rather than within it, the display board was positioned at the top of the stairwell to ensure clear visibility upon approach.
Electrical Safety Considerations
When installing at treatment facilities of this type, the following electrical safety checks must be confirmed with the client before work commences:
- If the intended outlet is already occupied by another device, a direct hardwired connection from the outlet will require isolating the corresponding circuit breaker in the distribution panel during the wiring work.
- Isolating the breaker will cut power to all devices on that circuit; it must be confirmed that a temporary power interruption to those devices is acceptable before proceeding.
Completion and Handover
Upon completion of both installation locations, the warning beacon alarm was tested at each site. A full operational demonstration was provided to the facility management team, including an explanation of the equipment, calibration cycle requirements, and recommended maintenance intervals. The project was then formally closed out. The LED display boards — with their high-visibility LED module readouts — were confirmed by the client to be clearly legible from a distance, resulting in a satisfactory project completion.
