RS Korea — Fixed Gas Leak Detector Installation at Landfill Gas Processing Facility

Hello, this is RS Korea. We recently received a call from a combined heat and power plant where we had carried out an installation back in March of last year. A different department at the same facility had seen our fixed gas detector and LED display and, on behalf of the team responsible for the landfill gas processing facility, asked us to install a gas leak detector for worker safety.

Products Installed

For confined spaces, gas leak scenarios, pre-entry checks, and monitoring during work, we configured a detector installed inside the space paired with an LED display outside, so the internal gas concentration could be checked from outside before entry.

Installation

To protect the safety of workers in the condensate collection tank along the landfill gas transfer piping, a gas detector was installed inside the tank, and an LED display was installed outside so the internal gas concentration could be checked before entry.

Installation sequence: LED display mounting → detector installation → power supply wiring for the display.

The display was mounted at a location the facility specified as visible both from below the work area and from outside when approaching the site. Since the display is mounted outdoors, the facility asked about waterproofing — all of our LED displays are built as outdoor-rated units by default. We also mentioned that a site we had installed at the previous year had a similar outdoor display, and suggested it might be easier to see it in person, so we visited that earlier site together.

After showing the display installed the previous year, we noted that we had never received a service call about a problem with that display. In the collection tank, methane gas and moisture are separated from the landfill gas; the moisture is retained in the collection tank, while the methane gas is sent to the flare stack. In the equipment room where the flare stack system operates, we installed a combustible gas detector to guard against methane leaks.

After completing the installation in the flare stack system equipment room as well, we demonstrated the alarm test and gas response to the facility manager and wrapped up the work.
