Installed Gases
Project Details
Today we show how this installation was carried out in practice. At the wastewater treatment plant entrance: a 7-channel monitoring LED display, plus fixed gas detectors on basement levels 1 and 2. We begin by listing the equipment and tools needed for the day. After the gas detectors and LED board are received, we run function checks in the office, pack the matching tools and accessories carefully, and only then head to the site.

This is the plant entrance; the LED display will be installed here. In the photo on the left, our site lead is drilling the wall. Among every site lead I have worked with, I can say without hesitation that ours is among the best—fast, accurate, and neat. On site, a hard hat and safety shoes are mandatory.

Note: LED display installation at the wastewater treatment plant entrance. On basement level 1 we install the FIX 800 fixed gas detector. PPM Korea does not mount equipment by eye. We use a spirit level to set true horizontal, confirm anchor points, and proceed with installation.

Note: Basement level 1 — fixed gas detector installation (O2, CO, CO2, H2S). We then move to basement level 2. The original plan was to install on the left wall shown in the photos; however, at the customer’s request—to avoid damaging waterproofed concrete—we agreed to install under the sloped stair landing instead. Field changes happen often; when they do not compromise safety or performance, PPM Korea actively reflects the customer’s preferences.

Power and signal wiring for the FIX 800 fixed gas detectors and the LED display were neatly completed using GW flexible conduit.

Note: Connecting power and signal for the LED display and FIX 800 units. After finishing up to this point, just before energizing, I sometimes think: what if it does not power on? What if something does not run? Where did we go wrong? In that tense moment we apply power—and as always, preparation and workmanship were solid. Below are the FIX 800 units on basement levels 1 and 2 operating normally.

Note: Basement level 1 — FIX 800 (O2, CO, CO2, H2S) / Basement level 2 — FIX 800 (O2). Finally, the LED display at the entrance. When gas concentration exceeds the reference threshold, the LEDs change from green to red and the message switches to “No entry.” With prepared span gas, the FIX 800 demonstrated correct operation throughout testing.

Alarm threshold levels can be configured as needed. For this site, alarm setpoints were defined based on occupational hygiene limits from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) material shown below.
