Hello, this is our team.

Today's application is simple, but the site had a rather unique enclosure setup, so we wanted to share the details.

This installation was for NO2 (nitrogen dioxide) monitoring, and we collaborated with an agency that handles fixed-type noise and fine dust monitoring equipment.

Here are the project details before we get into the story.

Delivery site: An elementary school in Seongnam (further details undisclosed)

Application: Air quality monitoring

Measurement items: Noise, fine dust (PM), NO2 (nitrogen dioxide)

FIX800 — Custom-Configured Fixed-Type Gas Detector

It can be configured for single-gas or multi-gas measurement depending on the user's selection.

FIX800 is one of our core fixed-type gas detector products. Users can select the sensor(s) they need from WANDI's line of roughly 40 sensor types to measure a single gas or several gases in combination. When a combined CO/H2S dual sensor is used, it can measure 5 gases in one unit — a feature that has made it popular across the country.

Because measurement range and resolution can be configured according to the sensor's specifications, this product could be selected for this site even though it required fine-grained concentration readings.

FIX800 comes with dedicated software for real-time monitoring and data management, and central/remote monitoring is also possible using the optional wireless hardware, FIX-AP.

However, this particular site had no available internet connection, and since the unit was installed on the rooftop, a wired connection between a computer and the detector wasn't practical — so a separate data logger was installed instead.

R9600 — Multi-Channel Digital Recorder for Receiving Analog Signals

The R9600 digital recorder (SUPMEA) is a device that directly receives and stores most analog signal types.

It accepts individual K-type thermocouple signals, PT100 RTD, 4-20mA, 1-5V, 0-5V, 0-10V, and 0-20mA — so for temperature sensors in particular, it can be applied on-site without a separate transmitter, which is very convenient.

Depending on the option selected, 4, 6, 12, or 18 channels are available, so it is used on sites that need to manage several parameters at once. With a highly visible display, it works as both a data logger and an indicator at the same time.

Dedicated software is available, of course, but the key convenience on this site was that data can be downloaded easily via the USB port on the front panel. With the dedicated software, readings can be reviewed as a logging chart or as a graph; for those who prefer not to use separate software, data can also be downloaded as a CSV (Excel-compatible) file for convenient review anywhere.

The FIX-DS display board is pre-configured for the RS485 signal protocol output by the FIX800. Because it uses a digital rather than an analog signal, data error is minimal even over long cable runs, allowing stable operation.

While the standard configuration is available in 1CH/2CH/3CH/4CH/5CH display versions, it can also be freely customized to the user's request.

It uses 3-color LEDs to display different colors depending on site conditions for better visibility, and an optional warning light lets staff check alarm status from outside without entering the site.

A 4-20mA input module can also be added as an option, or if the existing equipment shares its RS485 protocol, other instruments can be connected as well (development cost charged separately).

It also has an outdoor waterproof rating, so it can be used indoors or outdoors without distinction.

Delivery Preparation: Enclosure Build and In-House Testing

Neither the FIX800 nor the R9600 carries an IP rating suitable for direct outdoor exposure. To protect the units while keeping the display function accessible, we built a double-door enclosure. It was set up with a separate terminal block for wiring, to make future maintenance easier. To show the agency an installation example and test everything before delivery, we assembled it on our own test board. We meant to photograph it while running normally, but the photo was taken while the unit was still loading, so unfortunately the readings aren't visible.

For anyone looking at the photos and wondering about the setup: this school's air quality monitoring is a temporary project, so for ease of installation and later removal, the unit was mounted on a temporary board, and the wiring was done accordingly as well. Since installation at the end of June, the unit has gone through the harsh monsoon season without any issues, which suggests the waterproofing held up well.
