Explosion-Proof Zone Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Measurement: "Fixed Installation + KCs Certification"
In the field, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is not a gas where "if you can smell it, you're fine" — it is a representative hazardous gas that can spike to a dangerous concentration in an instant once it leaks.
This is especially true in areas with limited ventilation or where sulfur components are generated as part of the process — such as septic tanks, wastewater treatment facilities, manholes, pits, and sumps — where the risk of a worker safety accident is high.
The problem is that these locations are often managed as explosion-proof zones (explosive atmospheres).
In an explosion-proof zone, you cannot install "just any gas detector" — you must install equipment that is explosion-proof rated (including domestic certification), and even where no one is stationed on site, it must provide continuous monitoring plus alarm/equipment interlock to actually prevent accidents.
