Hello.
Today we'd like to share an installation case involving a confined-space gas detector at a food company's facility in Gyeonggi-do.
A "confined space" is a location with insufficient ventilation where oxygen deficiency or hazardous gases can cause health harm or create a fire/explosion risk. According to the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and Ministry of Employment and Labor's safety guide for preventing confined-space asphyxiation accidents, a confined space is not limited to areas that are fully enclosed on all sides — it also includes any space where, even with one side open, ventilation is insufficient and hazardous gas can accumulate and remain.
Confined-space asphyxiation accidents can largely be prevented by following basic safety precautions, and under Korea's Occupational Safety and Health Standards, oxygen and hazardous gas concentrations must be measured before confined-space work. We specialize in installing gas concentration detectors to protect the safety of workers in confined spaces.
This installation site was a wastewater treatment facility inside a food company. Before installation, we visited the site and met with the facility manager to discuss the installation location and any special considerations in advance.
On the day of installation, after completing a final check to prepare for any contingencies, we installed a combined gas detector configured with O₂ (oxygen), CO₂ (carbon dioxide), and H₂S (hydrogen sulfide) sensors, along with a gas display board, per the customer's request.
The FIX800 fixed combined gas detector was configured with O₂, CO₂, and H₂S sensors along with a warning light, so that if gas is detected on site, an audible alarm and warning light activate, allowing workers to evacuate quickly.
The gas monitoring display board was installed at the entrance, so gas concentrations inside the confined space can be checked in advance before entry.
Display Board Alarm Settings
O₂ (Oxygen): 19.5% or below, or 21.5% or above
CO₂ (Carbon Dioxide): 1.5% Vol or above
H₂S (Hydrogen Sulfide): 10 ppm or above
※ The alarm threshold on the display board itself cannot be changed, but the alarm threshold on the gas detector can be adjusted.
