Grain Silo Warehouse Confined-Space Gas Monitor Installation and Monitoring — Four-Gas FIX800

This is an installation case of a four-gas monitor and status board in the underground confined space of a grain silo warehouse.

The environment inside the silo is very harsh. In particular, so much grain dust had accumulated on the floor that the work was not easy.

Gas status board location: ground-floor entrance. Gas monitor installation location: approximately the third basement level. Distance: about 50 m. Because of this distance, the cable-laying work was carried out promptly.

The gas status board was installed where workers can check it quickly! The alarm setpoints on the gas status board (set according to occupational health and safety law standards) are: O₂ (oxygen): 18.5% or below; H₂S (hydrogen sulfide): 10 ppm or above; CO (carbon monoxide): 30 ppm or above; EX (combustible gas): 10% LEL or above.

Having overcome the noise and dust, the FIX800 four-gas monitor installation was completed, and commissioning was carried out after the final installation.

Because an RS-485 signal is used for the communication link between the monitor and the display board, there is no risk of noise or signal hunting even over long distances.

Gas web monitoring

During the equipment-selection meeting with the person in charge, web monitoring was also requested; however, due to site conditions in which Ethernet and Wi-Fi communication were not possible, only standalone monitoring via the status board was carried out.

Depending on the site conditions, web monitoring can also be configured at a low additional cost.

By linking with FIX-AP, real-time gas concentration readings can be checked on the responsible person's PC or smartphone.
