Installed Gases
Project Details
Ozone (O3) gas is used at water treatment plants for various purposes, including disinfection and sterilization. To measure the ambient concentration of ozone gas, FIX800 analyzers and FIX-DS status boards were delivered.

FIX800 O3 analyzer
The system monitors ozone gas conditions in real time at two locations within the water treatment facility and triggers an alarm when needed. It is configured with a FIX800 O3 5PPM analyzer and a FIX-DS ozone concentration status board with an integrated alarm device.

Ozone concentration status board at the water treatment plant
Ozone (O3) is used at water treatment plants for the following reasons:
1. Powerful disinfection and sterilization — Ozone has much stronger oxidizing power than chlorine (Cl2), effectively removing bacteria, viruses, and parasites. It also kills some microorganisms that are resistant to chlorine.
2. Odor and taste removal — It effectively removes unpleasant odors and tastes caused by impurities such as organic matter, algae, and ammonia nitrogen in the water.
3. Removal of residual contaminants — Ozone oxidizes and purifies harmful substances such as phenols, pesticides, and inorganic matter from industrial wastewater.
4. Suppression of trihalomethane (THM) formation — When chlorine reacts with organic matter in water during disinfection, carcinogenic substances such as trihalomethanes can form. Ozone treatment pre-decomposes organic matter, reducing THM formation after chlorination.
5. Aid to coagulation and filtration — Ozone oxidizes organic matter in the water to increase coagulation efficiency and reduce filter clogging, improving the filtration process.

Installation-type ozone concentration analyzer
In the course of supplying ozone measuring equipment, we also studied why ozone treatment facilities are used at water treatment plants. Communication and response tests were carried out before delivery.

Commissioning of the ozone analyzer at the water treatment facility
Since the equipment was to be installed to measure ambient ozone conditions inside the water treatment plant, testing was carried out with the alarm range set according to the customer's request.

Ozone leak alarm device
Under Korea's Occupational Safety and Health Act and Ministry of Employment and Labor standards, the TWA (Time-Weighted Average) concentration limit for ozone is 0.1 ppm. If the ambient ozone (O3) concentration rises above 0.1 ppm, the analyzer and status board will trigger an alarm.

Ozone analyzer delivered to the water treatment plant
If ozone concentration monitoring is needed at a water treatment facility, a suitable model can be selected to match site requirements. Always work safely!
