Oxygen Concentration Check Comes First in Sewage Treatment Facilities

Sewage treatment facilities, septic tanks, manholes, and underground pits may look fine on the outside, but that does not guarantee the internal air is actually safe. Sewage treatment facilities in particular often have poor ventilation, and organic matter decomposition can deplete oxygen or generate hazardous gases — making oxygen concentration checks before entry critically important.

Korea's Occupational Safety and Health Standards define "adequate air" in a confined space as an oxygen concentration of 18% or higher but below 23.5%; readings below 18% are classified as an oxygen-deficient condition.

For this reason, a sewage treatment facility should not simply rely on "we ventilated it, so it should be fine" — it needs a system that verifies the actual oxygen concentration number before entry.

FIX800 Oxygen Monitor — Key Features

가스측정기 전문 완디코리아 WANDI®

Fixed Oxygen Concentration Measurement System

FIX800 is a fixed oxygen concentration monitor installed in sewage treatment facilities, septic tanks, underground spaces, and other confined spaces to continuously monitor oxygen levels in real time.

Workers can check the oxygen status the moment they arrive on site, strengthening the safety management process before entering a confined space.

Alarm Integration for Immediate Response to Dangerous Conditions

If the oxygen concentration drops below a configured threshold, the system links to an alarm device, a display board, and external alarm equipment so that dangerous conditions can be recognized quickly.

Because sewage treatment facilities can experience sudden, momentary drops in oxygen concentration, a measurement system with alarm capability — not simple measurement alone — is required.

Site-Customized Installation

Measurement point, display board location, and alarm method can all be configured to match the specific structure of each sewage treatment facility.

Installing the system at the entrance, inspection hatch, worker waiting area, and control room — matched to the actual site workflow — makes the pre-entry check procedure far clearer.

FIX-DS Oxygen Display Board — Key Features

Oxygen Concentration Visible at a Glance

FIX-DS is a display unit that shows the measured oxygen concentration in a format that is easy for workers to read.

Workers can check the current concentration directly at the entrance without needing a manager to explain it separately beforehand, which significantly improves the effectiveness of safety management.

Strengthened Pre-Entry Check Procedure

The key to preventing accidents in sewage treatment facilities is checking before entry.

Installing FIX-DS near the entrance means workers naturally check the oxygen concentration before entering, which becomes a built-in part of the safe work procedure.

Easier On-Site Control for Managers

With a display board in place, managers can also easily check the facility's oxygen status.

This allows confined-space management procedures to run more systematically — checking before issuing a work permit, re-checking after ventilation, and continuous monitoring during work.

Recommended Sites

Well suited to confined spaces that workers enter periodically, such as sewage treatment facilities, septic tanks, wastewater treatment plants, manholes, underground pits, collection sumps, pump rooms, underground machine rooms, septic tanks at shopping malls and outlets, and sewage treatment facilities in apartment complexes.

For any site where workers need to check oxygen concentration before entry, the combination of the FIX800 oxygen monitor and FIX-DS oxygen display board is a practical solution.
