Preparing an Accurate Installation Cost Estimate
This guide explains the information needed to prepare an installation cost estimate for a fixed gas detector, and why each item matters. A summary checklist is provided at the end for quick reference.
Installation cost is normally confirmed through an on-site survey, which allows accurate assessment of crew size (by difficulty), material cost (by distance), and travel cost (by region). However, when a site survey cannot be arranged in time — or when access is restricted for security reasons — the following information allows a cost estimate to be prepared without a visit. Providing these details up front prevents large discrepancies that could otherwise cause problems once a contract proceeds.
Information Requested for a Cost Estimate
1. Site Photos
Site photos are reviewed to identify any obstacles in advance. Arriving to find the site unprepared extends the work time, and since a full installation kit must be carried, understanding the site beforehand allows a better-prepared visit.

Please photograph the intended detector location, and — if an LED display board is included — the intended display board location as well.
3. Distance Between Points
Distances do not need to be exact:

For long runs, any obstacles along the route must be checked; where this cannot be determined clearly, an on-site survey is required. An approximate route and distance — for example, "about 80 m" — is sufficient.
4. Points to Check for the Work
4-1. High-Place Work
Whether work must be carried out via the cable tray above.
Please advise whether high-place work is required (e.g., a high detector location or a high cable tray) and, if so, whether a ladder or a lift is needed for the site.
4-2. Wall Drilling
We check whether wall drilling is required. When it is, the wall thickness and material are assessed, and work time and cost may increase accordingly.
Caulking work
At some sites wall drilling is not possible. In those cases we use caulking, which offers strong safety and work efficiency — a small hole is made in the door frame instead. Please note this condition if it applies.
4-3. Power and Communication Cable Materials

Two material categories are used: waterproof flexible conduit, or steel piping / explosion-proof piping. This must be checked because the cost difference between flexible conduit and steel piping is significant. The power and communication cable run is therefore measured precisely (e.g., 1 m, 5 m).
4-4. Power Supply
Any power source can be used, but if a job that could be completed in one day is extended, unnecessary cost can arise (one-day work becoming two-day work). Materials are prepared with some margin beyond the calculated distance; however, if the intended power point turns out to have no power, drawing power from a distribution box in another area may require additional materials. Confirming power availability in advance prevents shortages and schedule extensions.
Installation cost is determined by the materials used and by crew allocation based on site difficulty. For this reason an on-site survey is conducted whenever possible, and when it is not, the information above is requested. These checks exist to provide an accurate cost and to complete the installation on the earliest possible schedule.
