Project Details

Note: The R9600 data logger model has been discontinued and is now replaced by the RN3000 model.

Hello, this is our team.

Today's installation took place at a university research lab in Seoul. The customer reached out on December 21st asking whether an installation could be completed before the end of the year, so we coordinated scheduling with our construction team and completed the installation on December 27th.

This is the entrance to the university research lab.

Unlike some university campuses with spacious grounds and casual hangout spots, this facility was clearly built for focused research — so we set aside any distractions and got straight to work.

Today's Installation List

The sensor is mounted at the bottom of the detector, so multi-gas configurations require a larger circuit board, resulting in a difference in the size of the lower sensor housing.

The R9600 data logger is a device that connects to the FIX800 — which cannot extract data on its own — to enable real-time data monitoring and data extraction. The R9600 receives a 4–20mA signal, so it requires a wired 4–20mA connection.

Installation Environment

Purpose: To continuously monitor the FIX800's real-time readings and extract 24-hour logged data.

Gas and concentration range: VOC, 0–1,000 ppm.

Requests: Install and configure the data logger software on the customer's laptop; test data extraction to Excel; and demonstrate the FIX800.

Before starting any installation, we always begin with the same steps — selecting the mounting location and planning the communication cable routing. We positioned the FIX800 detector inside the lab's fume hood, and since the detector and data logger need to be wired together, we planned the cable routing according to the customer's preferences.

After confirming this with the customer, we began the installation.

Our construction team handled the gas detector mounting, while our technician assembled the R9600 data logger and installed the software on the customer's laptop.

With the FIX800 mounted and the data logger connection underway, everything was proceeding smoothly.

After completing the gas detector installation and confirming its power connection, we wired the 4–20mA signal to the data logger and set up the software connection.

Success. After testing that everything was working correctly, we showed the researcher the incoming real-time data and walked through how to use the system — including how to reset the software if the laptop is powered off, and how to export data to Excel — before completing the installation.

For any environment where FIX800 fixed gas detector readings need to be monitored in real time on a laptop or PLC, pairing the FIX800 with the R9600 data logger makes it easy to view live data and export logged readings in Excel format.

Summary

1. The R9600 data logger receives a 4–20mA signal.
2. The FIX800's 4–20mA output is wired directly to the data logger to transmit readings.
3. RS-485 communication for PLC connections is supported via protocol and Modbus communication.

Inquiries about fixed or portable gas detection are always welcome. This concludes today's post on a university research lab installation in Seoul.

자주 묻는 질문 (FAQ)

Q1. Why was a data logger installed alongside the FIX800?

The FIX800 cannot extract data on its own, so the R9600 data logger was connected to enable continuous real-time monitoring and to extract 24-hour logged data to a laptop.

Q2. What gas and concentration range was configured for this installation?

The detector was configured to measure VOC (volatile organic compounds) over a range of 0–1,000 ppm.

Q3. How does the FIX800 connect to the R9600 data logger?

The FIX800's 4–20mA output signal is wired directly to the R9600, which requires a 4–20mA wired connection to receive and log the readings.

Q4. Can the FIX800 be connected to a PLC system?

Yes. RS-485 communication supports PLC connections through standard protocol and Modbus communication.

Q5. What kind of support is provided after installation?

After installation, we test the system, demonstrate real-time data readings to the customer, and walk through operating procedures such as resetting the software and exporting data to Excel.
