Project Details

Hello, this is RS Korea's technical sales team.

Today we delivered fixed-type gas detectors for the CO2 fire suppression systems located at fire suppression agent rooms in several subway stations.

Fire Suppression System (Fire Suppression Agent Room)

Why This Installation Was Needed

The space where the fire suppression system is installed would not normally be classified as a confined space under Attachment Table 18 of Korea's Occupational Safety and Health Standards. However, because a CO2 fire suppression system is installed there, there is a risk that CO2 could be automatically discharged or leak due to malfunction. This requires preventive measures — such as preventing accidental discharge during work, prohibiting the disabling of the automatic fire alarm's audible warning function, and providing workers with information on the alarm operation — and the room where the CO2 extinguishing agent is stored must be managed as a confined space.

Gas concentration must be measured before entering a confined space, and entry alone is prohibited — in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards on "CO2 fire suppression system management."

Delivered Item

가스측정기 전문 완디코리아 WANDI®

The delivered unit was a single-gas fixed detector configured for CO2, 0–5% Vol. For confined-space installations under Korea's occupational safety regulations, configurations of 4 gases (O2, CO, H2S, LEL) or 5 gases (O2, CO, H2S, LEL, CO2) are also available.

Direct Delivery

Since each station has its own electrical and construction teams who carry out the installation themselves, we handled the product delivery and provided the installation staff with guidance on installation methods, maintenance procedures, and how to request calibration.

Alongside direct product delivery, we also provide product training and installation guidance. Because our team regularly visits installation sites and works alongside construction crews, customers are welcome to call us anytime with installation-related questions.

Summary

Fixed CO2 gas detector installed at a fire suppression agent room — giving early, reliable safety verification for the space before anyone needs to enter. Inquiries about detectors and installation are always welcome. RS Korea is a gas-detection specialist offering more than product sales alone — including in-house calibration, domestic repair service, custom manufacturing, and installation work. Drawing on experience across demonstrations, site surveys, deliveries, repairs, and installations in a wide range of environments, we provide tailored one-to-one solutions for each gas measurement environment.

자주 묻는 질문 (FAQ)

Q1. Why does a CO2 fire suppression agent room need a gas detector?

Even though the room is not classified as a confined space under normal conditions, a malfunction or accidental discharge of the CO2 fire suppression system can quickly raise CO2 levels to dangerous concentrations, so the room must be managed and monitored as a confined space.

Q2. What gas range was configured for this delivery?

The delivered unit was configured as a single-gas CO2 detector with a 0–5% Vol measurement range.

Q3. Can this detector be expanded to monitor more than one gas?

Yes. For confined-space applications, the same detector platform can be configured with 4 gases (O2, CO, H2S, LEL) or 5 gases (O2, CO, H2S, LEL, CO2) depending on site requirements.

Q4. Who performs the installation at each station?

Each station's own electrical and construction teams typically carry out the installation. RS Korea delivers the product and provides installation guidance, maintenance procedures, and calibration request instructions to the installation staff.

Q5. What should be done before entering a room with a CO2 fire suppression system?

Gas concentration must always be measured before entry, and entry alone (without a second person present) is prohibited, in line with Korea's Occupational Safety and Health Standards for confined spaces.
