We have recently seen a growing number of inquiries about gas detectors for fire-suppression protected zones.
Following the regulation change taking effect on October 18, 2024 regarding the management of CO2 fire-suppression equipment, a customer reached out to us after reviewing a previous installation we carried out in Yongsan, and asked for the same type of installation for a building in Busan.
What Is a Protected Zone?
A protected zone is an area that is normally monitored by fire detection equipment to watch for and control fires. When a fire is detected, the extinguishing system is activated to suppress it. Because a malfunction of this equipment could cause an unintended discharge of CO2, this is also an area where an accidental release could create a hazard for anyone present.
Effect on the Human Body (Physiological Response by Concentration)

One reason for installing an oxygen (O2) gas detector in a protected zone is that if CO2 is discharged while people are present inside — reaching a concentration of at least 34% within 60 seconds — failing to evacuate immediately can lead to asphyxiation, poisoning, or even death.
Installed Product

The system can be configured to match site requirements — from a single O2 sensor, up to a 4-gas configuration (O2, CO, H2S, LEL) for confined-space monitoring under occupational safety and health standards, or a 5-gas configuration adding CO2.
9 Zones Installed

9 units of the FIX800 O2 detector were installed.

9 units of the 1-channel remote display were also installed.
This concludes the installation project for the fire-suppression protected zones in the Busan building.
