FIX800 Fixed-Type Gas Detector Installation at a Golf Course Wastewater Treatment Facility — Jeju

Hello. Following an earlier equipment inspection visit to Jeju that also included a site survey during some spare time, we returned to the same site for a separate visit to carry out this installation.

Reaching the site required an early morning flight to Jeju in order to arrive on site by around 9 a.m. The gas detectors and display boards that had been shipped ahead as freight arrived at Jeju without any issues.

Purpose of the Installation

This site is a wastewater treatment facility with a narrow entrance and an enclosed interior space, carrying an asphyxiation risk from gases generated during treatment. To reduce worker exposure to these gases, we installed the WANDI FIX800 fixed-type multi-gas detector (O2 0-30% vol, H2S 0-100 ppm).

While portable gas detectors fitted with sampling pumps can also be used, a worker still needs to approach the entrance to take a reading, and pump response slows once the sampling point is too far from the unit. For better convenience and safety, a fixed installation-type detector was used instead.

Equipment Installed

Two FIX800 2-gas detectors and matching display boards were installed.

Installation Locations

Treatment tank 1 — installed so the internal concentration reading is visible as soon as the entrance door is opened.

Treatment tank 2 — installed as a ceiling-mounted display sign above the doorway, so the reading is visible from outside before entry.

Installation Work

Detectors were installed at both treatment tanks. Conduit work was carried out carefully along the ceiling surface, which took considerable time.

We injected test gas to confirm the alarm functioned correctly, then explained the calibration and after-sales service process before completing the work on site.

Workplace Gas Monitoring Operations

A portable gas detector alone can confirm a worker's immediate safety, but adding a fixed detector further improves overall safety, convenience, and efficiency. We are not suggesting portable detectors be removed from the workflow entirely — rather, we recommend checking current concentration with a fixed detector before a worker uses a portable detector, which increases worker safety further. This combined approach is why we recommend fixed gas detectors as part of a facility's monitoring plan.
