Installed Gases
Project Details
This installation was carried out at a manufacturer that uses nitrogen gas throughout its equipment and component production process. Potential leak points along the nitrogen lines were surveyed before mounting the detectors. Nitrogen makes up approximately 80% of the atmosphere and is a non-toxic gas.
Although nitrogen is abundant and indispensable, a large release in an enclosed space will displace oxygen and reduce its concentration to hazardous levels. To prevent oxygen-deficiency incidents caused by nitrogen leaks, the facility installed oxygen concentration detectors.
The FIX800 fixed gas detector was installed along the nitrogen piping at a location selected to enable the earliest possible response in the event of a leak.
The FIX-DS real-time monitoring display panel was installed alongside the detector. With the display panel in place, personnel can check the safe oxygen concentration at the entrance before entering, without having to walk to the detector inside the confined space.
Like the detector itself, the display panel triggers an alarm beacon when readings fall outside the safe concentration range, enabling a prompt response before entry.
Conduit type can be selected to suit the environment. In this project, moisture-proof flexible conduit was used in concealed areas, while surface-run molding was applied in visible sections for a clean finish.
Installation was completed without difficulty, and normal operation was confirmed on commissioning.
The FIX800 can be configured with a single gas or a combination of up to 5 gases simultaneously (using up to 4 sensor slots, with CO+H₂S available as a dual sensor occupying one slot). The FIX-DS display panel is also custom-built to match the detector's channel configuration.
