FIX5000 Exhaust Gas Monitor — Animal Cremation Facility, Namyangju (Mongmongi M Park)
This case is introduced with respect for the nature of the location.
Background — Namyangju City Pilot Ordinance for Exhaust Gas Monitoring
The measurement was carried out at Mongmongi M Park, a pet cremation facility and family memorial park in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do. The purpose is to measure exhaust gases generated during animal cremation. Under Korea's Clean Air Conservation Act, measurement and reporting obligations apply based on emission volume and facility scale. Applying such requirements to a pet cremation facility is unusual — it was confirmed during the initial meeting that this is a pilot ordinance currently applied only within Namyangju City.
Pre-Installation Survey — Stack Location and Sampling Line Distance
Stack location, height, detector mounting position, and sampling line run lengths are measured during the preliminary site visit.
The exhaust stack is at the rear of the building, while the display board must be installed at the front. Installation points and cable routing were confirmed accordingly. The order was finalized three months after quotation, with installation carried out approximately four weeks later — the standard lead time for this custom product type.
System Configuration — FIX5000 + Freestanding Pole + Full-Color LED Display Board
The FIX5000 atmospheric environment detector measures a total of 7 environmental parameters:
- 3 gas types (not disclosed for confidentiality)
- Temperature and humidity
- PM2.5 and PM10 fine particulate matter
System components: FIX5000 main unit, freestanding pole mount, front-facing full-color LED display board, PU tube sampling line.
Installation — Anchor Work and Stack Connection
The ground was leveled and anchor bolts were set before mounting the FIX5000 main unit. Due to its weight, a minimum of two-person installation is required.
The sampling line was connected at the stack via ladder access. The original site had one exhaust outlet; on arrival, two outlets were present. A T-type ball valve was used to enable both selective and simultaneous sampling from both outlets.
Measurement was initiated during active cremation operation — fast sensor response was confirmed immediately.
Full-Color LED Display Board — Slideshow Format
A noteworthy feature of this installation is the full-color LED display board. Unlike conventional sheet-printed or single-color displays, the slideshow format allows multiple types of information to be displayed in rotation without restriction — Korean, English, symbols, measurement values, warning text, and institutional information can all be incorporated. Size and content are fully customizable.
The completed installation. The slideshow operation is smooth and reliable. This display board is compatible not only with WANDI instruments but with any transmitter providing 4–20 mA analog or RS-485 output.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Why is exhaust gas monitoring required at a pet cremation facility?
Animal cremation generates CO, PM, VOC, and NOx-class emissions. Under Korea's Clean Air Conservation Act, measurement and reporting obligations apply based on emission scale. Namyangju City has adopted a pilot ordinance requiring real-time exhaust measurement and data submission at such facilities, with the goal of protecting air quality for neighboring residents.
Q2. How does a T-type ball valve enable measurement from two outlets?
The ball valve is installed at a branch point in the sampling line. Turning the valve allows each outlet to be sampled individually, or both streams to be combined for simultaneous composite measurement. It provides a flexible on-site solution when the number of exhaust outlets differs from what was specified at the initial site survey.
Q3. Why is a freestanding pole mount used for the FIX5000?
FIX5000 measurement accuracy depends on sensor height and positioning. A freestanding pole allows the unit to be placed at the correct height and location even where wall-mounting is not available. Anchor bolts secure the pole to the ground to minimize movement from wind or vibration.
Q4. How does the full-color LED display board differ from conventional display boards?
Conventional boards use fixed text on sheet material or single-color LEDs — content is difficult to update. A full-color LED board with slideshow capability can display multiple types of information in sequence — measurement values, alert messages, facility information — with full color control. Content and size are fully customizable to user requirements.
Q5. Can the display board be used with instruments other than WANDI products?
Yes. The display board is compatible with any instrument or transmitter providing a 4–20 mA analog signal or RS-485 communication output — regardless of brand. Facilities with existing third-party instrumentation can adopt the display board independently to add an external monitoring and display capability.
