FIX800 VOC Gas Detector and SUPMEA R9600 Data Logger — Additional Fixed-Type Installation for a Cleanroom Facility

2022.09.29

Project Details

Note: The R9600 data logger referenced in this case has since been discontinued and replaced by the RN3000 model.

Hello, this is RS Korea's technical team.

Today's post covers an additional fixed-type gas detector installation for a WANDI client.

This facility is the same site where we completed an installation in the first half of 2021. As a company that conducts research and production inside a cleanroom, this site has been featured on our blog before for inspection and sensor replacement work.

On this visit, we carried out an installation inspection and commissioning to measure VOC levels inside the cleanroom, installing a FIX800 VOC 10 ppm detector together with the R9600 data logger.

As in our previous posts, this facility had already been using WANDI's fixed-type gas detectors alongside a data logger from SUPMEA, a specialist brand in water quality and data logging equipment.

With a new cleanroom added to the facility, the client requested an additional installation of the same specification as before: a FIX800 VOC detector, a custom-built sample conditioning unit, and an R9600 data logger.

Not every cleanroom is built to the same standard, but this facility's cleanrooms are managed so that differential pressure in each room stays within the required range for dust, temperature, and humidity control.

Installation Purpose

The FIX800 VOC 10 ppm detector was installed to monitor residual VOC levels inside the cleanroom. Periodic chemical cleaning is carried out as part of the production process, and if residual VOC gas from these chemicals remains in the room, it can affect worker safety and contaminate materials, leading to defective products. The detector was installed to monitor and manage these VOC levels.

Equipment Installed

Since only one additional room required measurement, and real-time data management with alarms was needed, the fixed-type FIX800 VOC 10 ppm detector was configured together with an R9600 data logger from SUPMEA for data management.

Installation Equipment

The equipment brought for today's installation included various tools, a tool bag, the SUPMEA R9600, and a custom-built sample conditioning unit.

Installation Points

Two installation points were selected for this project. At the client's request, the FIX800 was installed further inside the cleanroom, where VOC concentration measured highest, while the R9600 data logger was installed near the entrance. Power was supplied using an existing 220V outlet at the entrance installation point, so no separate electrical work was required.

The equipment was mounted and secured at each installation point.

After completing installation of the FIX800 VOC detector with its sample conditioning unit and the R9600 data logger with its warning light, our team carried out an alarm test, commissioning, and product operation training to complete the installation.

Products: WANDI FIX800 / SUPMEA R9600
Gas and Range: VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), 10 ppm
Installation: 2 technicians, approximately 4 hours
Notes: Additional fixed-type VOC detector and data logger installed in a newly built cleanroom; R9600 data logger installed near the entrance and FIX800 installed inside the cleanroom; wiring organized with waterproof flexible conduit; power supplied via an existing 220V outlet.

This concludes our post on the FIX800 VOC 10 ppm and SUPMEA R9600 installation. If you have any questions about installation, commissioning, or on-site repair, please feel free to contact RS Korea.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. Why is VOC monitoring necessary inside a cleanroom?

Residual VOC gas from periodic chemical cleaning can affect worker safety and contaminate materials, leading to product defects, so continuous monitoring is required.

Q2. What equipment was installed in this project?

A FIX800 VOC 10 ppm fixed-type gas detector with a custom sample conditioning unit, together with a SUPMEA R9600 data logger.

Q3. Where were the detector and data logger installed?

The FIX800 was installed further inside the cleanroom where VOC concentration measured highest, while the R9600 data logger was installed near the entrance.

Q4. How long did the installation take?

The installation was completed by two technicians in approximately four hours, using an existing 220V power outlet with no additional electrical work required.

Q5. Is the R9600 data logger still available?

The R9600 model referenced in this case has since been discontinued and replaced by the RN3000 model.
