Project Details

Hello. This is RS Korea's team.

Today's post covers the installation of WANDI's FIX800 fixed 4-gas detector and a display board at the septic tank room of a public institution in Jeju.

This is a follow-up to our earlier post, "Going to Jeju," continuing as "Going to Jeju Again."

This project covers three installation points per building across three buildings, carried out over three days.

The installation points are the septic tank room, the fire-suppressant agent room, the pump room, and the pit room. The display boards will each be installed at the outside entrance of their respective installation locations.

Since this project has a total of nine installation points, we will publish a separate post for each location. The work was carried out by a four-person team over three days.

WANDI Fixed Gas Detector FIX800

This is WANDI's FIX800, a fixed-installation gas detector. A single unit can simultaneously measure and display anywhere from one gas up to five gases, selected from around 40 available gas types. It can also be connected to an optional external display board or a PLC, allowing measured values to be viewed and managed remotely in real time.

Septic Tank Room

As mentioned, each building has three installation points, and the work covers three buildings in total. Today's post focuses on the septic tank room.

Wastewater is discharged from every building. The septic tank room is where contaminated water, including sewage, is collected and purified through processes such as coagulation and sedimentation.

The septic tank room has what is commonly known as a sewer-like odor environment.

The unit is equipped with sensors for the four gases commonly referred to as the confined-space safety gases: O2 (oxygen), CO (carbon monoxide), H2S (hydrogen sulfide), and LEL (combustible gas).

O2 (Oxygen): 0–30%
CO (Carbon Monoxide): 0–1,000 ppm
H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide): 0–100 ppm
LEL (Combustible): 0–100% LEL

Installation Points

The units will be installed at the septic tanks in all three buildings.

This is the installation point for Building A. The FIX800 was positioned inside the septic tank room, and the display board was positioned at the outside entrance. The same layout was applied to Buildings B and C.

The gas detector is being installed in the septic tank room. During the site survey, we confirmed that power would be supplied from the control box at the outside entrance of the septic tank room, which made concrete drilling unavoidable in order to run power to the detector and display board.

On the day of installation, the site manager informed us that a hole had already been drilled during previous electrical work. We used that existing opening in the high box to run the wiring conveniently.

The outdoor display board installation is underway. A waterproof corrugated conduit was used to keep the wiring neatly organized.

Installation of the FIX800 4-gas safety detector and gas display board has been completed in the septic tank rooms of all three buildings.

The advantage of a fixed-installation gas detector is that it stays powered 24 hours a day without any separate connection or charging required. Once power is supplied to the display board, the detector operates simultaneously, and the measured values can be checked in real time on both the detector and the display board.

RS Korea is the official Korean branch, with a complete in-house system for after-sales repair, calibration gas facilities, and manufacturing/shipping. Beyond simply selling products, we are a gas-specialized company handling our own calibration, domestic repair, and manufacturing/shipping. Drawing on our experience delivering and installing equipment across a wide range of environments, we go beyond product sales to provide one-to-one customized systems — such as moisture and high-temperature pre-treatment units (gas sampling systems) — tailored to each measurement environment.

Today's Summary

Location: Jeju
Environment: Septic tank room inside the building
Product: WANDI FIX800
Gas / Measurement range:
O2 (Oxygen): 0–30%
CO (Carbon Monoxide): 0–1,000 ppm
H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide): 0–100 ppm
LEL (Combustible): 0–100% LEL

Other notes: 4-person team, 8 hours; 3 of the total 9 installation points (septic tanks) completed in this phase; power supply connected via the existing high box opening from previous wiring work; short wiring distance; waterproof corrugated (GW) conduit used for wire routing.

FAQ

What gases does the FIX800 monitor in this installation?

It monitors the four confined-space safety gases: O2 (oxygen, 0–30%), CO (carbon monoxide, 0–1,000 ppm), H2S (hydrogen sulfide, 0–100 ppm), and LEL (combustible gas, 0–100% LEL).

Why was concrete drilling required for this installation?

Power for the detector and display board needed to be run from the control box at the outside entrance of the septic tank room, which made drilling necessary — although an existing opening from prior electrical work was reused where possible.

Does the display board operate independently of the detector?

No. Once power is supplied to the display board, the detector operates simultaneously, and readings can be checked in real time on both the detector and the display board.

Does the detector require charging or a separate power connection?

No. As a fixed-installation unit, it remains powered 24 hours a day without any separate charging or connection required.

How many of the nine total installation points were completed in this phase?

Three of the nine total installation points — the septic tank rooms in Buildings A, B, and C — were completed in this phase, by a four-person team over 8 hours.
