Project Details

Hello.

Today we would like to introduce a delivery case of the EDW500 portable 5-gas detector, used for gas measurement inside a sump pit (collection well) confined space.

The inside of a sump pit is a hazardous environment, since ventilation is often insufficient and organic matter can easily accumulate there.

Anyone working inside a sump pit must carry a portable gas detector at all times.

Before replacing the level sensor inside the sump pit, the oxygen level and the concentration of the five key gases in the confined space were measured to check for any risk of asphyxiation.

Fortunately, an adequate oxygen level was confirmed and no other hazardous gas was detected, so entry was carried out safely.

As organic matter carried into a sump pit by groundwater or wastewater is decomposed or oxidized by microorganisms, this process consumes a large amount of the oxygen in the air.

In addition, a lack of dissolved oxygen in the groundwater itself can cause the internal oxygen level to drop below 18%.

The EDW500 portable multi-gas detector comes with a built-in SIM card, enabling real-time communication.

Equipped with 5 gas sensors (O2, CO, H2S, Combustible Gas, CO2)

No communication fee — web-based monitoring included as standard

Supports both diffusion-type and pump-suction measurement

Can be customized for monitoring over an internal Wi-Fi network in environments without external communication

Key principles for preventing asphyxiation accidents in confined spaces:

- Always measure oxygen and hazardous gas levels before entry.

- Use a ventilation blower to force air exchange.

- Prepare a supplied-air respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus.

The EDW500 multi-gas detector can typically be supplied within 3 days of ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What gases can the EDW500 detect?

The EDW500 is a portable multi-gas detector that can simultaneously measure five key gases: oxygen (O2), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), combustible gas (EX), and carbon dioxide (CO2).

Why does the oxygen level drop inside a sump pit?

Organic matter carried into a sump pit by groundwater or wastewater is decomposed or oxidized by microorganisms, a process that consumes large amounts of oxygen from the air. A lack of dissolved oxygen in the groundwater itself can also cause the internal oxygen level to fall below 18%.

Can the device be monitored in areas without cellular signal?

Yes. The EDW500 comes with a built-in SIM card for real-time communication, and it can also be customized to monitor data over an internal Wi-Fi network in environments where external communication is not available.

What measurement methods does the EDW500 support?

It supports both diffusion-type and pump-suction sampling, so the appropriate method can be selected depending on site conditions.

How long does delivery take after ordering?

The EDW500 multi-gas detector can typically be supplied within 3 days of ordering.
