Project Details

This is RS Korea.

Lately, most of our blog posts have been about site surveys and installations — simply because that's what most of our inquiries have been about.

Today's visit was to a company in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do (name withheld). It's a social enterprise that produces baked goods while employing people with developmental disabilities. Supplying equipment to national institutions helps contribute to the national economy, and supplying equipment to a social enterprise like this one means contributing to a more inclusive society as well.

Whatever the business does — baking bread or pastries — what mattered for us was the wastewater treatment room inside the factory. Here's the entrance, and we took a full walk-through of the site.

The spacing between treatment tanks and equipment was wide, and the space itself was remarkably clean — quite different from what you might typically picture at a wastewater treatment facility. When we asked the site manager when the building was completed, they said October of last year. That explained why everything looked so new.

As nice as the clean environment was, there was still work to do. We surveyed possible cable routes and identified a suitable power supply point — the closer the power line, the better, as always.

Working with the site manager, we finalized the installation points: a display board and warning light on the right side of the entrance, and the detector itself positioned above the collection tank, where toxic gas is most likely to occur.

Site survey summary:

1. Cable run distance: approximately 100m.
2. Cable routing through ceiling ductwork, which will involve some elevated work.
3. Estimated crew: 3 people for 1 day.
4. A noticeably cleaner environment than a typical wastewater treatment facility.

If this survey leads to an installation, we'll follow up with another post soon.

자주 묻는 질문 (FAQ)

What kind of facility was this site survey conducted for?

The survey was carried out at the wastewater treatment room of a confectionery manufacturing company in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do — a social enterprise that employs people with developmental disabilities.

Where will the gas detector and display board be installed?

Based on the survey, the display board and warning light are planned for the right side of the facility entrance, while the detector itself will be positioned above the collection tank, where toxic gas is most likely to accumulate.

How much work is expected for the installation?

The survey estimated a cable run of about 100m, with routing through ceiling ductwork requiring some elevated work, for a crew of 3 people over roughly 1 day.

Is this wastewater treatment room typical of most industrial facilities?

Not quite — the treatment tanks and equipment here were spaced further apart than usual, and the facility, completed only the previous October, was notably cleaner than a typical wastewater treatment site.

Has the installation been completed yet?

Not at the time of this post — this covers the site survey stage. If the project proceeds to installation, a follow-up post will cover that work.
