Installed Gases
Project Details
Hello, this is RS Korea.
As the weather keeps swinging between mild and freezing, we hope everyone stays healthy. We didn't expect the four seasons to shift back and forth so much within a single month. From an installation team's perspective, though, a mild winter is always welcome.
Following a site survey on November 17, 2021, a quotation was prepared, and because the customer requested installation before December 20, our team had to move quickly to meet the deadline.
Below is a summary of the customer's requirements:
1. Installation had to be completed by December 20 → With roughly 30 days available including custom manufacturing lead time, this was fully achievable.
2. Explosion-proof construction was not required, but the power outlet inside the gas storage room was an explosion-proof receptacle → Once the specifications of the existing explosion-proof receptacle were confirmed, a compatible plug could be prepared.
3. A display board was needed on the outer wall of the gas storage room where the detector would be installed, and the same information had to be viewable from the second-floor office as well → This was technically straightforward, though it increased product and installation cost and extended the working time.
The installation process is shown below.

Tools and materials needed for the job are laid out for easy access.

The unit is installed at the point requested by the site manager before wiring.

A photo unrelated to the actual work, but a nice memory from the job.

Product satisfaction comes from performance, but job satisfaction comes from a clean site. Leave no trace of the crew having been there, clean up thoroughly, and take pride in a tidy finish — these are principles our installation teams follow on every job.
Photos of the wiring connections after installing the detector and display board on the first floor and the display board on the second floor are not included, out of respect for worker privacy, internal security, and the electrical work involved. Please refer to the photo below for the wiring overview instead.

The detector's 24V power can be supplied through the display board. However, each display board requires its own 220V power supply, so if you are planning a similar installation, please check for a nearby power source in advance.

After completing the installation, an operational test was carried out. Power and readings for all three units were confirmed to be shared correctly.

The site manager was then walked through product training and a live demonstration. When calibration gas was applied, the oxygen concentration reading dropped on the detector and the same change was confirmed on the display board in real time.
Installation summary — Crew: 3 people. Working hours: 10:00–12:00, lunch break, 13:00–17:00 (extended due to on-site variables). Materials used: approximately 30m of communication cable, waterproof flexible conduit, power cable, and related hardware. Special notes: an explosion-proof receptacle was used for the power supply, and two display boards were operated from a single detector.
For inquiries about gas detectors, feel free to contact us anytime on weekdays, 9:00–18:00. Thank you, and we always hope for safe measurement on every site.
자주 묻는 질문 (FAQ)
What gas does the FIX800 detector in this installation measure?
This project used the FIX800 fixed-type detector configured for oxygen (O2) measurement, installed inside a confined gas storage room together with two display boards for real-time monitoring.
Why was an explosion-proof receptacle relevant here even though explosion-proof construction wasn't required?
The gas storage room's existing power outlet was an explosion-proof receptacle. Once its specifications were confirmed, a compatible plug was prepared so the detector and display boards could be safely powered without any additional explosion-proof construction work.
How are the detector and the two display boards powered?
The detector itself can draw 24V power through the display board, but each display board still requires its own 220V supply. If you are planning a similar setup, check for an available power source near the installation site in advance.
How is the display board kept in sync with the detector reading?
The display board is wired directly to the detector so oxygen concentration readings appear in real time. During the final test, calibration gas was applied to the detector, and the resulting drop in oxygen concentration was confirmed on the display board.
How long does an installation like this typically take?
For this project, a three-person crew worked from 10:00 to 17:00 with a lunch break, using about 30 meters of communication cable, waterproof flexible conduit, and power cable. Actual duration can vary depending on site conditions and any on-site variables encountered.
